First Class Pre-K

Kiddie Garden supports families in accessing the Alabama First Class Pre-K program - a high-quality, voluntary state pre-kindergarten designed to prepare 4-year-olds for success

This program is open to Alabama residents whose child is 4 years old on or before September 1 of the upcoming school year.

To apply, click the button below. There is no registration fee, and no child is denied participation based on income.

  • Online pre-registration opens each year January 15 and runs through early spring

  • Participation is based on a random selection drawing often called a lottery.

  • Children must be 4 years old by September 1 of the school year being applied for.

  • Required documents usually include birth certificate, Proof of Alabama residency, and immunization records.

  • There is no tuition fee for First Class Pre-K; the program is funded by the state.

Need financial assistance with childcare? The State of Alabama offers resources to help you and your family afford quality early childhood education through Family Guidance. With subsidies that could possibly cover up to 80% of the cost of tuition, we encourage you to apply today.
